- The Puppet Co. Playhouse presents The Nutcracker for the 27th year. Performance at 10:30 a.m. in Glen Echo Park.
- The Visual Arts Center Program at Einstien Highās āVAC Revealedā exhibit is on display at Bethesdaās Gallery B from noon to 6 p.m. 22 seniors display samples from the portfolio.
- Brookside Garden of Lights features a walk through the gardens lit up with more than one million lights. Opens at
5:30 p.m. - The Sentinel Newspaperās Excellence in Government Award Ceremony takes place in Bethesda at 5:30 p.m.
- The monthly Bethesda Art Walk takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. Several galleries and studios are open, many include demonstrations as well as receptions.
- Gaithersburg Winter Lights display features a 3.5 mile drive through Seneca Creek Park open nightly at 6 p.m.
- The Festival of Lights features 600,000 lights on the grounds of the Temple in Kensington, nightly performances in the indoor theater, Christmas trees decorated in international themes, live-sized outdoor nativity and more. Grounds are open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Lights illuminated at dusk.
- The Metropolitan Ballet Theatreās Nutcracker continues this weekend and is an area tradition in its 27th
year. Tonightās performance at the Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center starts at 7:30 p.m. - Paul Morella returns to Olney Theatre for his one man adaptation of A Christmas Carol at 7:30 p.m.
- Claire Lynch performs a holiday show at BlackRock in Germantown at 8 p.m.
- Sandy Spring Theatre Groupās production of A Charlie Brown Christmas continues at Gaithersburgās Arts Barn tonight at 8 p.m.
- Olney Theatreās production of Guys and Dolls continues this week. Tonightās show is at 8 p.m.

- Hike the Muddy Branch Greenway with Locust Grove park naturalist from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Free with registration.
- Do you have small children ages 6 months to 3 years? If so, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestraās Music Box Series may be of interest. Todayās program, Sleigh Ride features a string quartet playing songs about winter, bells and sleigh rides. Prior to the concert, children explore instruments and activities in the lobby. Performances at 10 and 11:30 a.m. at the Silver Spring Civic Building.
