Hearing on Rockville's Pike Neighborhood Plan Set for Monday

Rockville city council members will hear public comment April 11 on plans to develop a two-mile stretch of Rockville Pike.

ROCKVILLE, MD — If you have views on how a two-mile segment of Rockville Pike should be developed, Monday night is a chance to share those thoughts with Rockville officials.

The mayor and city council will hold a public hearing on the Planning Commission’s recommended “Rockville’s Pike Neighborhood Plan” at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 11 in the Mayor and Council Chambers at City Hall.

This is the first of two public hearings on the recommended plan, which can be read at www.rockvillemd.gov/rockvillespike. Hard copies are available for review at City Hall and at the Rockville and Twinbrook libraries.

The public record for written comments will remain open until Monday, May 23. Testimony may be sent to cityclerk@rockvillemd.gov, or by mail to: City Clerk’s Office, Rockville City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave., Rockville, MD 20850.

The “Rockville’s Pike Neighborhood Plan” was approved by the Planning Commission on March 9. The law gives the mayor and council up to 150 days from the commission’s approval to review and act on the plan.

The recommended plan, which is being updated for the first time since 1989, establishes policies for land use, transportation, parks and other topics along a key two-mile stretch of the Rockville Pike corridor, south of Rockville Town Center.
