'I Know You': Victim Recognizes Robber Who Breaks Into Apartment

A Germantown man convicted of beating his former middle school classmate in her home was sentenced to prison Monday.

Germantown, MD — A Germantown man convicted of kicking in a woman’s door and beating her – until she recognized him as a former classmate – was sentenced to over a decade in prison Monday.

Devonte Dixon, 24, of Germantown, was convicted in June for his role in the Nov. 4 attack. Dixon in kicked open a Germantown mother’s apartment door, demanded money and beat her with his fists. Police say another man who was armed with a gun stood watch at her door during the attack.

As the woman held her one-year-old daughter, she recognized her assailant as a former classmate at Roberto Clemente Middle School, authorities said.

It was just a coincidence that the victim and her attacker knew each other from middle school, Ramon Korionoff, spokesman for the Montgomery County State's Attorney’s office, told WUSA9.

"She...screamed during the invasion, 'I know you. I know you. Why are you doing this to me!'" WTOP reports.

On Monday, Dixon was sentenced to 12 years in prison for home invasion and armed robbery.

Police are still looking for his accomplice. And Dixon was unapologetic in court as a judge sentenced him to 12 years in prison for the assault.

Dixon reiterated Monday that he was not involved in the breakin or robbery.

“I’m not going to stand here and say I’m remorseful for something I didn’t do,” Dixon told Circuit Court Judge Robert Greenberg.

Prosecutors say Dixon was convicted both because his victim recognized him – finding him on Facebook after the assault – and because of a pair of Air Jordan sneakers.

A shoeprint from a worn pair of the sneakers left on the victim’s door matched shoes seized in a search warrant at Dixon’s house, authorities said.
