Imposter Cop Car Flashed Lights On I-270 To Move Motorists: MD Driver

ROCKVILLE, MD — Maryland State Police are asking anyone who may have encountered a suspected imposter vehicle flashing blue and red lights and driving aggressively on I-270 to contact the Rockville Barrack, according to a police release.

MSP began its investigation after receiving a call around 4:15 p.m., on Tuesday, reporting a suspicious vehicle on I-270. The caller told police that a tan Chevrolet Malibu was flashing red and blue lights to move vehicles off the roadway, according to the release.

A witness told investigators that they encountered the driver of the Chevrolet Malibu while they were traveling north on I-270 near Middlebrook Road, according to police.

The witness said the driver had lights flashing on the rear and front of their car and was driving aggressively. At one point, the driver got behind the witness' vehicle before moving into the high occupancy vehicle lane and then driving off, police say.

MSP said that it had not received any reports of the suspect driver attempting to pull over motorists. However, troopers did track town the suspect vehicle and spoke to a person of interest in the case. No charges had been filed as of Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Investigators released photos of the Chevrolet Malibu and asked anyone who may have encountered the vehicle to call the Rockville Barrack at 301-424-2101.
