'Jury Duty' Calls a Scam Warn Montgomery County Police
Scammers are calling Montgomery County residents claiming to be a sheriff's officer with an arrest warrant that can be quashed for money.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A caller trying to bilk Montgomery County residents out of money, claiming they have missed jury duty, has resurface, warns the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. Authorities warn residents not to believe the call, which is a scam.
The scammers claim to be a Lt. Frank Rodgers with the sheriff's office and use a callback number of 240-338-9364. "Do NOT call this person back," the department warned on its Facebook page. "He is not a Montgomery County Deputy Sheriff."
Law enforcement officers will never ask for money, bank information or pre-paid cards, officials said.

The scammers claim that the intended victims have missed jury duty and now have a warrant issued for their arrest. However, if the victim pays a fine, this fictional warrant will be quashed, the caller says.
"Please do not fall for this ploy. No amount of money will eliminate a warrant," the office says.
