Juveniles Missing From County Facility Charged In Rockville Carjacking

ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County Police arrested three juveniles, who had left the Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents without authorization, and charged them in connection with a Thursday afternoon carjacking in Rockville, according to a police release.

Around 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, officers responded to the 14800 block of Physicians Lane for the report of a carjacking. The victim told police that he was sitting in his parked silver Honda CRV when one of suspects approached him and implied that he was armed, according to police.

While the officers were talking to the victim, they received a report about three juveniles who had left RICA without permission, according to police. The carjacking took place approximately 1 mile from the facility.

Around 8 p.m., the 6th District Special Assignment Team found the victim's Honda parked on Southview Drive in Oxon Hill, Maryland. Police say the officers noticed the three suspects near the car and arrested them.

After charging the three juveniles with carjacking, police returned them to the custody of the Montgomery County Department of Juvenile Services.
