The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration recommends that overnight travelers use MD 355 (North Frederick Road) to MD 109 (Old Hundred Road) as an alternate route. Drivers should avoid using I-270 or plan for extra travel time.
Drivers need to modify their driving style to help prevent crashes, say highway officials. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely.
