No Weapon Found At Montgomery HS After Report Of Gun On Campus
Richard Montgomery High School was placed on lockdown Friday afternoon, as police investigated the report of a gun on campus.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Rockville City and Montgomery County Police put Richard Montgomery High School on lockdown Friday afternoon as they investigated the report of a gun on campus, according to a police release.
Police say that two students from another area of the county entered the high school in Rockville without authorization and assaulted an RMHS student, according to the release. The other students left the school but later returned around 12:30 p.m.
An RMHS student told a school security officer that they had seen a weapon. The officer informed the principal and police were immediately notified. Police placed the school on lockdown and began searching for the weapon. The students outside the school ran away, according to police.

"There was the report that a student had seen a gun on campus outside of the building, so there is no confirmation of the validity of the weapon," Jessica Baxter, an MCPS public information officer, told Patch.
After failing to locate a weapon on campus, the lockdown was lifted, according to a 2:11 p.m. post on on the Montgomery County Department of Police's official Twitter accounts.

Students sheltered in place until the end of the day. Police remained on the school campus throughout the rest of the day and dismissal, according to the release. The assault on the RMHS student is being investigated by Rockville City Police.
