Man, 70, Charged With Sexually Abusing Minor In Early 1980s: Police

Police cited a 70-year-old Rockville man for sexually abusing an 11-year-old boy he was babysitting in the early 1980s.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County Police released a photo Wednesday of 70-year-old David Wayne Brown of Rockville, who was arrested on Friday for sexually assaulting a minor in the early 1980s, according to a police release.

On Dec. 30, 2021, detectives from MCPD's Special Victims Investigations Division began to investigate Brown after a man reported that Brown had molested him multiple times between 1981 and 1983, according to police. The incidents took place in the areas of Vandalia Drive in Rockville and Homecrest Road in Silver Spring.

Brown, who was 29 when the offenses occurred, was babysitting the victim, who was then 11, according to police.

On Friday, police charged Brown with second- and third-degree sex offense. He was taken to the Central Processing Unit, where he was later released on unsecured personal bond.

Detectives released Brown's photo because they believe there may be other victims Brown may have sexually abused.
