Man Hit By Amtrak Train in Rockville Dies: Update

Montgomery County Police are investigating accident near the Target on Bou Avenue in Rockville. The victim's name has been released.

A 39-year-old man hit by an Amtrak train has died, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services.

The fatal accident happened just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday near the Target store on Bou Avenue north of Randolph Road, according to Pete Piringer, spokesman for the fire department.

Montgomery County Police are investigating the accident scene in the 5700 block of Bou Avenue. The victim is Phillip Constantine, 57, of an unconfirmed address, police said later in the week.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Investigators say the victim was in the area of the tracks when, for reasons still under investigation, he was struck by a northbound Amtrak train. The victim’s identity will be released once family members have been notified.

Anyone with information about this is incident is asked to call police at 240-773-5070.

MARC’s Brunswick Line was holding at its Silver Spring station while police investigate the death, WTOP reported. MARC and Amtrak share the track. All later westbound Brunswick trains are being held in D.C. until the investigation is complete.
