Meet Montgomery's New Inspector General: Megan Davey Limarzi
While inspector general, Megan Davey Limarzi will serve as a public watchdog for Montgomery County.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County has a new inspector general.
The person who will serve as a public watchdog for Maryland's most populous county is Megan Davey Limarzi. Montgomery's nine-person council unanimously named her as the new inspector general Tuesday morning.
Created in 1997, the Office of the Inspector General is in charge of enhancing the productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of local government. And Limarzi is no stranger to that type of work, according to officials.

Limarzi — who is currently the clerk of the council — has held various state and local positions before becoming Montgomery County's new inspector general.
On a state level, Limarzi was the inspector general for the Department of Health. According to Montgomery County officials, she supervised the department's corporate compliance programs, accountability efforts, and audit functions.

Prior to working at the Department of Health, Limarzi spent more than a decade as a prosecutor. She held several positions at the Maryland Attorney General's Office, such as deputy director of the Criminal Division and chief of the Economic Crimes Unit.
On a local level, Limarzi served as an Assistant State's Attorney in the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office for nearly four years.
"Ms. Limarzi's combination of professional experience, understanding of government operations at all levels and no-nonsense approach to problem solving will make her an outstanding inspector general," said Montgomery County Council President Nancy Navarro. "She is a dedicated public servant who will work to identify fraud, waste and abuse, just as she did as inspector general for the Maryland Department of Health. While Ms. Limarzi's departure is a significant loss for the Council, we recognize that her legal expertise and leadership skills will serve the greater good as she monitors and investigates the operations of our County as inspector general."
