Mom, Child Hit By Car on Aspen Hill Street
A mother taking her child out of a car was hit by a passing car and seriously injured in Aspen Hill, police say.

ASPEN HILL, MD — A woman and her child were both injured when they were struck by a car on Parkland Drive in the Aspen Hill area Tuesday, officials say. The accident happened about 3 p.m. in the 13100 block of Parkland Drive, said Pete Piringer, spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services.
Piringer said the 28-year-old woman had gotten out of her vehicle, which was parallel parked along Parkland, to get her child out of the back seat when they were hit, reports WTOP.
The mother was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, suffering from severe leg injuries. Police said she is expected to survive.

Her child was treated at Children's Hospital in Washington and released, NBC Washington reports.
Authorities have not released the names of the victims, or said if any charges will be filed.

The car that hit them stayed on the scene. Police closed Parkland Drive during the investigation.
