Montgomery County Fireworks Could Be Postponed By Storms
Montgomery County Recreation officials warn residents to check to see if storms delay the July 4 fireworks shows in Kensington, Germantown.

Montgomery County, MD — A stormy July Fourth may jeopardize Monday’s fireworks displays at two Montgomery County events, officials warn.
While Saturday and Sunday will offer sunny days with highs around 82 degrees, the forecast for the 4th of July predicts showers and thunderstorms are likely for the holiday.
The county Recreation Department is already alerting residents that the possibility of severe weather on Monday evening, July 4, could change plans for its two fireworks celebrations: Germantown Glory at the South Germantown Recreational Park at 7 p.m. and Mid-County Sparkle at Einstein High School in Kensington at 7:30 p.m.

Both events are rain-or-shine, so the supporting activities will be canceled if severe weather conditions -- driving rain, strong winds and/or lightning – occur. County officials will make that decision at 5 p.m. on Monday, July 4.
If activities are canceled, only the fireworks will be rescheduled for Tuesday, July 5, at 9:15 p.m., say parks officials.

All entertainment and food vendors will be cancelled. Shuttle service will not be provided on July 5, and parking will be extremely limited at both locations.
