ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett will attend a ceremony titled "Homeless Persons Memorial Inside/Not Outside Initiative Kick-Off" Wednesday. The ceremony will commemorate homeless individuals who died in Montgomery County in 2016 and 2017, and a new 2017 county initiative to help the homeless will be announced, according to a county press release.

Leggett will join County Councilmember George Leventhal and community nonprofits to remember homeless people who passed away and to announce a community-wide effort to help house the county's chronically homeless.

The National Alliance to End Homelessness defines a chronically homeless person as someone who has experienced homelessness for a year or longer, or who has experienced at least four episodes of homelessness in the last three years
