Montgomery Village Electrician Shocked by $50,000 Prize

MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, MD — With his family by his side, a Montgomery Village man came to Maryland Lottery headquarters on Feb. 24 to claim a $50,000 prize. The 36-year-old won a top prize on a 20x The Cash scratch-off ticket he purchased at Check Cash Depot.

When asked why he selected this particular game, the electrician told Maryland Lottery officials he liked the fact that the ticket had chances to multiply his winnings. The $5 20x The Cash ticket is part of a family of the multiplier scratch-offs that launched in January. In addition to the $5 game, there are also $1, $2, $10 and $20 tickets available with top prizes up to $1 million.

The happy winner plans on investing his newfound windfall. And he isn’t the only one who wins: His lucky lottery store, Check Cash Depot at 107 East Diamond Ave. in Gaithersburg, will receive a $500 bonus for selling the top-prize winning ticket.
