ROCKVILLE, MD — Nancy Navarro has concluded her one-year term as Montgomery County Council President on Tuesday. Instead of giving a traditional speech, Navarro prepared a video that highlights the work she spearheaded on the council in 2019.

"Since I'm concluding my term as council president today, one of my last acts will be sparing the group from a long-winded speech," Navarro said during Tuesday's council meeting. "Because, actually, we as a team has worked so very hard this year — that I figure we better summarize all of this in a video."

Before playing the video, Navarro took the time to thank her family and colleagues for their support during her tenure.

"First and foremost, of course, I have to thank my incredible family, who has put up with me this year regarding my very hectic schedule and very long nights tracking a lot of issues. They've always been there supporting me along the way," Navarro said. "Also, my council colleagues. You guys have all been extraordinary — especially in this very unique and historic year of transition. Each of you has brought your own ideas, priorities, and passion for public service to the council and it has really invigorated the council as an institution. I'm extremely proud of what we were able to achieve together, as well as very proud of what our community has done to participate in this process."
