Pedestrian Critically Injured in Germantown Accident

Montgomery County Police are asking for witnesses to contact them about Sunday's accident.

A man is in critical condition after he was hit by a minivan while crossing a Germantown street Sunday night, authorities say.

Just after 10 p.m., Montgomery County Police officers and Fire/Rescue personnel were called to North Frederick Road (Route 355) and Gunners Branch Road. First responders found an unconscious man on the northbound lanes at 19601 N. Frederick Road.

He was taken to a local trauma center, where he remains in critical condition Monday.

Investigators say the 37-year-old victim was crossing east on northbound Route 355 from the median, when he was struck by a 2000 Chrysler Town and Country minivan which was traveling north on Route 355.

The driver of the minivan -- James Kellogg McHenry of Montgomery Village --remained on the scene and provided information to investigators.

The pedestrian’s identity will be released after family members are notified, police say.
