Aspen Hill Library hosted its third annual Caribbean-American Heritage Celebration on Saturday.

The sounds and tastes of the islands came alive at the third annual Aspen Hill Caribbean-American Heritage Celebration held on Saturday afternoon. The lower level of Aspen Hill Library attracted dozens of audience members for a celebration marking June as National Caribbean-Heritage Month.

The event—sponsored by Friends of the Library’s Aspen Hill chapter—featured steel drum performances by the Caribbean-American International Steel Orchestra and dance performances by Caribbean Dance Traditions.

County Executive Isiah Leggett and members of the County Council presented a joint proclamation at the Silver Spring Civic Building on June 1 to kick off Caribbean Heritage Month in Montgomery County.
