Police Conducting Death Investigation After Rockville House Explosion

Montgomery County Police Department are conducting a death investigation following a house explosion in Rockville Friday.

ROCKVILLE, MD - Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department are conducting a death investigation following a house explosion in Rockville, police announced.

On Friday, March 17 at approximately 12:51 a.m., Fire and Rescue personnel and Second District officers responded to a house explosion in the 11400 block of Ashley Drive, police said.

At 11:53 a.m. Saturday, March 18, fire investigators located human remains in the basement of the residence, police said. The victim’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the victim’s identity and the manner and cause of the victim’s death.

The Major Crimes Division will continue to work with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to determine the circumstances that led to this event.
