ROCKVILLE, MD — A pedestrian hit by a car on a Rockville street Sunday night was identified Tuesday as Pedro Mendoza, 54, of Gilbert Road in Rockville. Mendoza remains in grave condition at a local hospital, authorities say.

Montgomery County Police say the accident happened shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday at Norbeck Road (Route 28) and Baltimore Road in Rockville.

Investigators say Jum Soon Kim of Burtonsville was driving a 1999 Acura Integra eastbound on Norbeck Road. As Kim went through the intersection of Baltimore Road, she struck Mendoza, who was crossing Norbeck Road on the east side of the intersection. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
