Police officers and fire and rescue personnel responded to the scene at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The police determined that the Montgomery County bus, northbound on Rockville Pike, had stopped for a red light at Halpine Road when it was struck in the rear by the Accord.

The police identified the bus driver as Donnett Marsha Lawrence, 48, of Crabbs Branch Way in Derwood. Three passengers were on the bus, but they and the driver were not injured, the police said.
