Radio Host Kojo Nnamdi To Co-Moderate MoCo Candidate Forum

The Oct. 1 forum will be broadcast live on three Montgomery County Media channels and online. Here's how to watch.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — (From Montgomery Community Media) Kojo Nnamdi, host of WAMU’s “The Politics Hour,” will join veteran local political reporter Tom Sherwood as a moderator for the County Executive Candidates Forum at Montgomery Community Media (MCM) on Oct. 1, 2018.

The three candidates appearing on the forum — Marc Elrich, Robin Ficker and Nancy Floreen — are running for the seat currently held by Ike Leggett, who will leave office after three terms.

Nnamdi anchors “The Politics Hour,” and shares the microphone with resident political analyst Tom Sherwood, a former political reporter for NBC4 and The Washington Post. During the one-hour event, Sherwood and Nnamdi will act as co-moderators, while the forum will be hosted by Kelly Leonard, facilitator and executive producer of MCM’s monthly Small Business Network event.

The County Executive Forum will be broadcast live on MCM Channels 19, 21 and 995 HD and live streamed at mcmlive.org, from 7 - 8 p.m. on Oct. 1. Immediately following the forum and thereafter, the program will be available at myMCmedia.org.

The invited studio audience will represent a variety of Montgomery County business, civic and nonprofit organizations. A limited number of press seats are available on a first come, first served basis. To register, members of the press should contact Gaynelle Evans or Joe Yasharoff by Noon, September 29. Requests for interviews with the candidates should be made directly with the candidates’ representatives.

SBN is a monthly event that is live streamed and broadcast by MCM. The audience of area entrepreneurs, small business owners and government officials network and hear presentations from top financial and business experts. SBN facilitator Kelly Leonard is a speaker, trainer and award-winning CEO of Taylor-Leonard Corporation, a Montgomery County-based small business with expertise in training, business development and information technology.

The Montgomery County Executive Candidates Forum is presented by MCM’s Small Business Network and its sponsors, M&T Bank, The Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation and Leadership Montgomery.

Montgomery Community Media is Montgomery County’s public access media center and home to two television studios, a podcast studio and MymcMedia.org, a website that covers hyper-local news, arts and sports. MCM also offers classes in video and podcast production to members of the community and broadcasts on cable Channels 19, 21 and 995 HD.
