ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County has opened a damage assessment portal for residents whose property was damaged by the July 8 flooding.

The data collected through the portal will help determine officials determine if the county meets the FEMA eligibility threshold to apply for federal funding. It will offer information on the storm's impacts.

"The portal gives us valuable data on the storm damage," said the County's Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security Director Earl Stoddard. "While we may not meet FEMA's criteria for Individual Assistance, we want to make sure we have as much information as possible to make the case with our state and regional partners."

Affected residents and businesses have until July 15, 2019 to submit a damage reporting form.

Filing a damage reporting form does not excuse residents from submitting through insurance. Submission also doesn't guarantee federal, state, or local reimbursement.
