Residents Invited To Weigh In On Local Bills At Public Hearings

The bills cover a variety of issues, ranging from stormwater management to the county's minority-owned business purchasing program.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Residents are invited to weigh in on a number of bills under consideration by the Montgomery County Council. The bills cover a variety of issues, ranging from stormwater management to the county's minority-owned business purchasing program.

The public hearings — scheduled in both June and July — will be held in the Third Floor Hearing Room of the Council Office Building, which is located at 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville. All meetings will be broadcasted live on Xfinity channels 6 and 996, RCN channels 6 and 1056, and FiOS channel 30. Residents can also watch them via live stream through the Council website.

  • Expedited Bill 16-19, Special Capital Improvements Project - Gude Landfill Remediation, would authorize the planning, design, and construction of the Gude Landfill Remediation (P801801) project in the Rockville area.
  • Expedited Bill 17-19, Bond Authorization - Stormwater Management, would authorize the County to issue special limited obligation bonds for the purposes of financing the planning, design, acquisition, and construction and maintenance of stormwater management facilities and other related projects.

Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 1:30 p.m.

  • Expedited Bill 15-19, Contracts and Procurement - Minority Owned Businesses - Sunset Date – Amendments, would extend the sunset date for the County's minority owned business purchasing program; and generally amend the County's minority owned business purchasing program.

Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 1:30 p.m.

  • Expedited Bill 19-19, Economic Development - Workforce Development – Amendments, would authorize the Council to designate a nonprofit corporation or a public educational institution, or both, as the County's Workforce Development Organization; (2) modify the requirements for an organization designated by the Council as the County's Workforce Development Organization; and (3) generally amend the laws governing workforce development.
