ROCKVILLE, MD — Suspect photos were released Friday by Montgomery County Police of a man suspected in the assault of a Ride On bus driver in Rockville. Investigators shared surveillance photographs of the suspect, who reportedly beat the driver with a cell phone, and asked the public to help identify him.

The assault happened about 1 a.m. July 11 soon after bus pulled out of the Shady Grove Metro Station, 15903 Somerville Drive. Several passengers, including the suspect, boarded the Ride On bus at the Shady Grove Metro Station. Once the bus left the metro station, the suspect and the driver argued, and the bus driver tried to call police. Authorities say the suspect took the phone from the driver and began hitting him with it.

According to police, the suspect continued the assault until the victim stopped the bus in the 15900 block of Frederick Road and opened the doors. The assailant got off the bus and fled the area on a bicycle that he had brought with him on the bus.
