Rockville Bank Robbery Suspect Flees In U-Haul Van: Police

Police need the public's help finding a man they say robbed a Bank of America in Rockville Thursday.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Police on Friday released surveillance footage and photographs of a man suspected of robbing a Bank of America in Rockville. A picture of what authorities say is the suspect's getaway vehicle, a white GMC U-Haul van, was also released.

Around 10:18 a.m. on Thursday, units responded to the Bank of America located at 17501 Redland Rd. for the report of a robbery. Police said the suspect approached the bank's teller, flashed a handgun, and demanded cash. He got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Officials said they obtained surveillance footage from a nearby neighborhood. The video shows the bank robbery suspect fleeing the area in a white GMC U-Haul van branded with "distinctive graphics and wording," according to authorities.

Police ask that anyone with information about the suspect or this bank robbery call 240-773-5100. To be eligible for a reward, anonymous tipsters can call the county's Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A cash reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest or indictment.
