Gaithersburg, Rockville to Celebrate 'Year of the Monkey'
The city of Gaithersburg will celebrate the lunar new year Feb. 13 and 14 with Chinese music, dance, martial arts and more.

Lakeforest Mall and the Chinese Culture and Community Service Center will host the 17th annual Lunar New Year Celebration, one of the largest indoor Lunar New Year celebrations in the northeast.

Festivities will include traditional Chinese dance performances, displays of Chinese art and culture, calligraphy, painting and more. On Feb. 13-14, Lakeforest Mall will be the site of folk dances, martial arts and other performances. A closing ceremony will be held on Sunday, Feb. 14, at 5 p.m.

Rockvilleās Lunar New Year
The City of Rockville will celebrate the lunar new year at an event planned for Saturday, Feb. 13. The event will take place at F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre, 603 Edmonston Drive in Rockville.
The celebration is free and open to the public and will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Musical and dance performances, arts and crafts, and Asian cuisine will all be a part of the festivities.
The event is organized by the Asian Pacific American Task Force of Rockville and sponsored by Greencourt Capital and Kaplan University.
The celebration marks the start of the year 4714 which is the āyear of the monkey,ā on the Chinese zodiac calendar.
