Rockville College Students Earn Accolades From Their Schools
Patch highlights the academic achievements of college students from the Rockville area.

ROCKVILLE, MD — To shine a light on the academic achievements of college students from the Rockville area, Patch shares information provided by the students' families and Merit News.
Elise Steenburgh of Rockville graduated from Oberlin College in spring 2022 with a bachelor of arts in environmental studies and biology. They also received the 2022-23 Fulbright ETA Award to teach English in Brazil. Elise was also inducted into the Phi Betta Kappa Honor Society for placing in the top 10 percent of the graduating class and demonstrating achievement and commitment to liberal arts education.
The following students have been named to the dean's list at Frostburg State University in recognition of outstanding academic achievement for the spring 2022 semester:

- Belkis Alvarez of Rockville, with the distinction of a 4.0 grade point average.
- Kolby Hendricks of Rockville, with the distinction of a 4.0 grade point average.
- Michael Hudren of Rockville, with the distinction of a 4.0 grade point average.
To be eligible, a FSU student must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and earn a cumulative semester grade point average of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.
The following students earned degrees during the 160th commencement ceremonies in Frostburg State University in May:

- Danny Campos-Saravia of Rockville received a bachelor of Science degree in psychology.
- Katy Garcia of Rockville received a bachelor of science degree in health science.
- Haoran Zou of Rockville received a bachelor of science degree in psychology.
- Ariana Zuzunaga of Rockville received a bachelor of science degree in communication studies and international studies.
- Caroline Hugon of Rockville received a master of medical science degree in physician assistant studies
The following were among the more than 8.900 students who were named to the spring 2022 dean's list at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City:
- Etoukpe Pierre Michael N'Tchougan-Sonou of Rockville
- Harrison Walker Oehler of Rockville
To qualify for the dean's list, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher in at least 12 graded credit hours during any one term.
The following students received degrees during the spring commencement at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio:
- Jessica Chelst of Rockville graduated cum laude with a bachelor of arts, majoring in political Science.
- Gabe Gleeson of Rockville graduated with a bachelor of arts, majoring in political science.
Linus Bao of Rockville earned faculty honors for spring 2022 at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have earned a 4.0 academic average for the semester.
Emma Burns of Rockville received a Bronze Career Readiness badge from the Center for Career and Civic Engagement during the spring 2022 semester as part of the Elevate undergraduate experience. Moravian University students earn Career Readiness badges by participating in on-campus events, teamwork and leadership activites, holding elected positions within campus organizations and attending other University-affiliated events.
The following local were named to the dean's list for the spring 2022 semester at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York:
- Seth Barash of Rockville is in the mechatronics engineering technology program.
- Isabel Barker of Rockville is in the 3D digital design program.
- Ferdinand Jr Virtudes of Rockville is in the computer science program.
- Chase Kahn of Rockville is in the industrial design program.
Full-time degree-seeking undergraduate students at RIT are eligible for dean's list if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete", "D" or "F"; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.
