Rockville College Students Recognized As Fall Term Begins

Patch highlights the academic achievements earned by Rockville students at their college or university.

ROCKVILLE, MD — To shine a light on the accomplished of college students from Rockville, Patch shares information provided by the students' families and Merit News.

Danielle Carter and Genevieve Hill of Rockville are performed in McDaniel College's production of "Wintertime," which was presented from Sept. 29-Oct. 1, on the WMC Alumni Hall Mainstage at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland.

The following students were named to the spring 2022 dean's list at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts:

  • Dana Gerber of Rockville is majoring in Writing, Lit and Publishing and is a member of the Class of 2022.
  • Gavin Holland of Rockville is majoring in Creative Writing BFA and is a member of the Class of 2024.

To be named to the dean's list, an Emerson student must maintain a grade point average of 3.7 or higher for that semester.

Paige Sonoda of Rockville graduated cum laude after majoring in sociology and psychology at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. Sonoda, the daughter of David H. Sonoda and Margaret M. Thale, is a 2018 graduate of Georgetown Day School.

James Madison University recently welcomed the following students from the class of 2026 to its campus in Harrisonburg, Virginia:

  • John Bork of Rockville whose selected major is general psychology.
  • Bryson Corini of Rockville whose selected major is undeclared/exploratory.
  • Catalina King of Rockville whose selected major is justice studies.

Latasha Thomas-Jacobs was named to the summer dean's list at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. A total of 383 students enrolled during summer semester 2022 at The University of Alabama were named to the dean's list with an academic record of 3.5 or above.

The following students were named to the summer 2022 president's list at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, New Hampshire:

  • Elijah Degelia of Rockville
  • Rosario Robinson of Rockville
  • Gamelia Milton of Rockville

Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the president's list.

Asa Hemenway of Rockville is among 53 University of Nebraska-Lincoln students who have been selected for the fall crew of the Jacht Agency. Hemenway, a senior textiles, merchandise and fashion design major at the university, is a videographer for the agency. Jacht is a student-run agency offered through the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, allowing students a chance to gain real-world experience by working with a variety of clients on brand strategy, public relations, multimedia design and more.

Allison Geringer of Rockville graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in communication studies from James Madison University during commencement exercises in August 2022.

The University of Vermont recently welcomed 3,000 new Catamounts, who started their studies at at the Burlington, Vermont for the fall 2022 semester. The students included:

  • Lela Sutherland of Rockville plans to study in the College of Arts & Sciences.
  • Rae Culligan of Rockville plans to study in the College of Arts & Sciences.
  • Max Levine of Rockville plans to study in the College of Education & Social Service.
  • Kyra Lee of Rockville plans to study in the College of Engineering & Math Sciences.
  • Jack Baldwin of Rockville plans to study in the College of Engineering & Math Sciences.

Brooks Perks of Rockville graduated with a bachelor's in sociology from James Madision University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, during the August 2022 commencement exercises.
