Rockville Couple to Use $10K Scratch-Off Win for Home Repairs

Rockville parents of five will use their scratch-off winnings to buy a computer for their daughter.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A Rockville resident and his wife had a celebration in their car after buying a Maryland Lottery Million Dollar Spectacular scratch-off on Oct. 26.

The husband was hoping to land one of the $20 instant ticket’s $1 million top prizes, but he and his wife were all smiles as they collected a $10,000 prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. The lucky winner purchased the ticket at the 7-Eleven store located at 13251 Atlantic Avenue in Rockville. As he drove, his wife began scratching off the ticket.

“She said, ‘I’ve got 500! And here’s another $500! And $100!’ ” he recalled. “We were very happy. We couldn’t believe it.”

After they added up all the numbers they matched, the Montgomery County pair had a total of $10,000. The winner said he planned to use the winnings on a few home improvements. The parents of five added that the prize will also help them buy a computer their daughter needs.

The lucky husband said he enjoys playing scratch-offs, Mega Millions and Powerball. Before his Million Dollar Spectacular win, his best Lottery luck came with a big Pick 4 prize about 15 years ago.
