Once inside his car, "For the Kids" scratched off every other spot. He didn't find much, so he scratched off the remaining spots.
"I had to put my glasses on," he said after learning he won the $1 million prize. The lucky player immediately called his wife to tell her that he was a millionaire.
"I thought he was lying!" she told lottery officials.
Once he convinced his wife, she told him to drive home carefully, put the scratch-off in a safe spot, and check that it's still there at least once a day, according to a press statement.
Asked what he'll do with the money, "For the Kids" told lottery officials that he intends to meet with a financial planner. He said some of the money will help cover college tuition for his two children, replace a diamond in his wife's wedding ring, and book a trip to Italy. The winner also said he plans to take his family out to dinner and celebrate.
