Rockville Man, 74, Killed In Crash On River Road Near Great Falls

Montgomery County police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Wednesday afternoon on River Road near Great Falls.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A 79-year-old Rockville man was killed Wednesday afternoon when the car he was driving was struck by a pickup truck in the area of River and Stoney Creek roads near Great Falls in Maryland, according to a Montgomery County police release.

Around 1:50 p.m., Sam Mingsan Chen was attempting to make a lefthand turn from southbound Stoney Creek Road onto eastbound River Road, when a white 2019 Ford F-550 traveling west on River Road collided with Chen's silver 2012 Toyota Camry, according to police. Chen was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police reported that the intersection is controlled by a stop sign on Stoney Creek Road.
