Rockville Man Arrested for Exposing Himself to Girl on Bus
The girl saw the suspect two days later, her mother took a photo of the man and police found the suspect on the MD Sex Offender Register.
Mario Amaro, 48, of Rockville was arrested Thursday by Metro Transit Police for allegedly exposing himself to a girl on a Metrobus earlier this month.
Amaro reportedly exposed himself July 9 to an 8-year-old girl seated next to him the Y8 bus that was en route to Silver Spring Station. The incident was reported to Metro Transit Police by the girl’s mother.
Two days later, the 8-year-old victim was traveling on the same bus route with her mother when she saw the suspect again and pointed him out, police say. The mother took a picture of the suspect and provided it to Metro Transit Police detectives, who then searched the Maryland Sex Offender Registry.

Amaro was identified as a suspect based on the photo and physical description provided by the victim’s mother.

Amaro was arrested by the Metro Transit Police Warrant Squad at his residence Thursday morning and subsequently identified himself as the person in the mother’s photograph. Clothing matching what he was wearing on the bus was also taken as evidence.
Amaro will face indecent exposure charges in Montgomery County District Court.
