Rockville Man Arrested On Sexual Assault, Animal Cruelty Charges

Police arrested the 57-year-old man on a slew of charges, including first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and more.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Police arrested a 57-year-old Rockville man for first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, attempted second-degree sex assault, animal cruelty-torture of an animal, animal cruelty-failure to provide care and aggravated cruelty to an animal.

The man was arrested after an incident that occurred between 10 p.m. Feb. 14 and 2 a.m. Feb. 15 in the unit block of Alsace Lane, police said. Police told Patch the man assaulted a woman family member between this time.

The woman went to get medical attention a day or two later, police said. During the medical appointment, the woman told officials she felt that the family dog was also injured during the incident.

Police went to check on the dog, and was met with resistance from the male family member.

Upon seeing the dog, officers determined the dog was abused and suffered from "unnatural injuries." The dog was also in need of medical attention, police said.

The man was arrested Feb. 18, police said.
