Rockville Man’s Nine-Letter Word for Winning $10K: Crossword

ROCKVILLE, MD — A Rockville man received a special package from the Maryland Lottery that contained a huge surprise – a $10,000 win on a Deluxe Crossword scratch-off. The 51-year-old, who runs an international parcel delivery service out of the Montgomery County area, told Lottery officials that he purchased the $5 scratch-off at Ollie’s Beer, Wine & Deli in Rockville while running errands.

He confirmed his $10,000 win using the store’s ticket checker. “I was so excited,” the winner said in a news release. This marks the lucky player’s biggest win to date and he plans to share the funds with family members and pay down his mortgage and auto loans.

The winning ticket was purchased at Ollie’s Beer, Wine & Delim 2011 Veirs Mill Road in Rockville.
