Rockville Offers Early Opportunities To Speak Out On City Budget

Public hearings on the city of Rockville budget are scheduled for Monday, Oct. 16 and Monday, Nov. 13.

ROCKVILLE, MD - From the City of Rockville: The Mayor and Council are once again asking the community to help the city prioritize what matters most as it embarks on its Fiscal Year 2019 budget process.

Public hearings are scheduled as part of the Mayor and Council meetings on Monday, Oct. 16 and Monday, Nov. 13, and will give community members their first chances to weigh in as the city begins to develop the operating budget and Capital Improvements Program for FY 2019, which begins July 1. Anyone wishing to testify should call 240-314-8280 before 4 p.m. on the hearing date to have their names placed on the speakers' list.

The city will launch a new online tool on Tuesday, Oct. 17 that will allow the community to select their top budget priorities, offer suggestions for budget reductions and describe ideas for decreasing costs or improving operational efficiencies. During the budget process, staff will compile the online submissions and periodically submit them for the Mayor and Council's review and consideration.
