Rockville Pedestrian Hit, Critically Injured: Police
A Rockville woman was critically injured when she was hit by a car

ROCKVILLE, MD — A Rockville woman is in an area hospital with life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a car while crossing a street, authorities say. The accident happened just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of North Washington Street and Dawson Avenue in Rockville.
Montgomery County Police say a 2015 Toyota Corolla driven by Chinthaka Chaturan Amalage Don, 24, of the 600 block of Diamondback Drive in Gaithersburg, was southbound on North Washington Street. A pedestrian, Dena Elise Balistocky, 57, of the 200 block of North Washington Street in Rockville, was crossing the southbound lanes of North Washington Street in the area of Dawson Avenue when she was struck by the Corolla.
Balistocky was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, police say.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances around the accident, including Balistocky’s direction of travel, what the traffic signal showed at the time of the collision, and whether Balistocky was in the area of the crosswalk.
