Rockville Ranks High on Top 100 Best Places To Live

Livability.com has ranked the top 100 best places to live, and gives high marks to Rockville and Bethesda.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Rockville is described as all growth and no pain for its No. 13 slot on Livability.com's list of the Top 100 Best Places to Live. Appearing for four straight years on the Best Places to Live list, the website calls Rockville an upscale city where the median income for families is more than $100,000.

The average home price is $475,000, and nearly every home in the city of Rockville is within a short walk to a city park. Rockville is part of the Interstate 270 Technology Corridor that houses many software and biotech companies and federal government agencies.

Also in the top 20 out of 100 are Arlington, Virginia, at No. 19, along with Bethesda at No. 29. Other regional communities on the list are:

The city won praise for repurposing an elementary school into the Rockville Senior Center, a popular community anchor that hosts events and activities for the 60-plus crowd daily.

Rockville scored well for amenities including a challenging and hilly golf course, and for social and civic capital owing to an involved community and very low crime rate.

Rockville is the seat of Montgomery County, perennially one of the wealthiest in the United States. But the city is investing in more affordable housing and is typically more affordable than surrounding areas. Metro stations in the city and two more nearby connect commuters to Washington D.C. and bring city-dwellers out to the businesses in Rockville.
