Rockville Things To Do: Montgomery County Fair, 'Hamlet,' Springsteen Tribute

Love and Kisses at Blackrock, Looney Tunes cartoons at AFI, NIH Children's Charities benefit, and more Montgomery County weekend events.

BETHESDA, MD — Here are some of the theater productions, live music performances and other weekend activities happening Aug. 19-21, courtesy of the MyMCMedia.org calendar:

Friday, August 19:

  • Montgomery County Agricultural Fair continues through Saturday, August, 20. Fair Gates open from 10 a.m. – midnight. Carnival open from noon – midnight.
  • Shop Maryland Tax-free Week continues today throughout the state.
  • I and I Riddim perform at the Bethesda Metro Station Plaza from 6 to 9 p.m. Free.
  • Friday Night Live Concert Series at Rockville Town Square features Justin Trawick & The Common Good at 6:30 p.m. Free.
  • Wrap the work week up with Gaithersburg’s Zumba in the Park at the City Hall Concert Pavilion at 7 p.m.
  • The Hipocrites, a Chicago-based repertory company, present The Pirates of Penzance rotating with The Mikado at Olney Theatre. While performances continue through Sunday, August 21, all remaining shows are sold out.
  • Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club present an evening of The Nighthawks beginning with the premiere of a documentary film about the Bethesda Blues band, the area debut of Chicago’s North Avenue Stompers and then a set with The Nighthawks.
  • The National Players present Hamlet at 7:30 p.m. Performance is outdoors at the Root Family Stage. Tickets are free, but are required.
  • AFI Silver Screens free outdoor film series continues with When We Were Kings in downtown Silver Spring’s Veterans Plaza.
  • UpCounty Theatre presents Love & Kisses at the BlackRock Center for the Arts at 8 p.m.
