Son Charged With Murdering Mother Inside Rockville Home: UPDATE

ROCKVILLE, MD — A 26-year-old man from Rockville was charged with the first-degree murder of his mother, Montgomery County Police announced Tuesday.

Ousmane Camara, of the 13600 block of Marianna Drive, was arrested after police found his mother, 52-year-old Arabia Camara, dead inside her home.

At about 7:43 a.m. on Tuesday, police received a request to perform a welfare check on Arabia after she didn't show up for work. Officers responded to her Marianna Drive home and received no answer when they knocked on her door.

Officers then found an open window and entered Arabia's home. Once they were inside, police encountered Ousmane, who had blood and cuts on his hands. Police said they then found Arabia dead inside her home with apparent trauma to her body.

Ousmane was arrested and taken to a local hospital for the cuts on his hands. He was subsequently taken to the Central Processing Unit where he was charged with first-degree murder, police said. He is being held without bond.
