Rockville's New Pop-Up Bookstore To Fund Education Services

Located in Rockville Town Square, Carpe Librum has an eclectic mix of books, CDs, and DVDs under $6. Proceeds fund education services.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A pop-up bookstore has opened its doors in Rockville Town Square.

Carpe Librum at 107 Gibbs St. is the product of a partnership between Turning the Page, a D.C.-based educational non-profit, and Federal Realty Investment Trust, the developer that owns all ground-floor retail at Rockville Town Square.

At the bookstore, shoppers can find an eclectic mix of books, CDs, and DVDs available for under $6. The pop-up, which is open through August, also accepts quality donated books, CDs, and DVDs.

Proceeds will fund education services in the region, giving students greater access to learning materials and helping parents teach their children about various school subjects.

CEO Jason King says the goal is to raise $30,000.

"When you visit Carpe Librum you are going to find a selection of books that is quite strong," King said. "We encourage shoppers to come in and browse and feel good knowing in your purchase you are helping in the education of our youth."

Carpe Librum is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. You can donate books, CDs, and DVDs during regular business hours.
