Senior Chows On Cheerios At Berman Academy Graduation In Rockville: Video

ROCKVILLE, MD — A Potomac student decided that his graduation ceremony from Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy needed a little something extra to be more memorable. So Akiva Glashofer, 18, and a buddy snarfed down a bowl of Cheerios during the Berman Academy graduation ceremony, drawing laughs and applause.

Glashofer told WUSA he will always remember his years at the Rockville school, and he wanted to leave a lasting impact. Thanks to a viral video of the antics circulating on Instagram, he left his mark.

On June 12, Glashofer and his pal, Ethan Lazarus, followed their classmates onto the dais, took their seats, then broke out a box of Honey Nut Cheerios and some milk, and settled into a late breakfast as the ceremony went on. Glashofer said he had given his parents a heads-up about his plans.

There was no comment from the school on its social media sites or YouTube channel about the commencement surprise.
