The legislation to establish this Commission is currently being considered by the Maryland General Assembly (Senate Bill 429/House Bill 548).

If the legislation is passed before the end of the 2016 Maryland General Assembly Session in mid-April, The Maryland Design Excellence & Innovation Commission will begin operation in October 2016, and will implement design and innovation policies and projects for the State of Maryland.
