Sound Off On Montgomery County's FY21 Operating Budget

Residents can voice their opinions about the county's operating budget on April 16. The deadline to sign up is April 14 at 3 p.m.

ROCKVILLE, MD — The Montgomery County Council will hold two public hearings on Thursday to get residents' input on the fiscal year 2021 operating budget.

They will be held at 1:30 and 7:00 p.m. Residents can provide live testimony through telephone calls. The deadline to sign up is Tuesday at 3 p.m.

Individuals will receive a confirmation call or email with a call-in number to participate.

The council has also created a new online catalog for public hearings where residents can provide either written or prerecorded audio or video testimony. This testimony will not be aired during the the public hearings, but will be available to the public on the council's webpage. Click here to get started.

Residents can view the public hearings on County Cable Montgomery on Channels 996 or 6 on Xfinity, Channels 1056 or 6 on RCN and Channel 30 on Verizon. The hearings will also be live-streamed here and here.

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich's FY 2021 recommended operating budget totals $5.9B. A little more than $2.7M — or 47.2 percent of the budget — would go to Montgomery County Public Schools.
