Teen Killed in Park Assault; $10K Reward Offered for Tips

MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, MD — Authorities have released the name of a teenager murdered Sunday night at Centerway Park in Montgomery Village.

Oscar Vidal Benitez, 18, of Gaithersburg, was likely killed during an assault in the park, according to Montgomery County Police.

Police dispatchers received a call just after 10 p.m. from medical personnel at Holy Cross Germantown that Benitez had been brought to the hospital and was declared dead. Investigators at the hospital spoke with two more victims who were injured during the assault.

Detectives say the deadly assault took place in the parking area of the park at 9551 Centerway Road in Montgomery Village.

Investigators have spoken with people who may have some connection or knowledge about the attack.
