Toddler Falls 40 Feet, Critically Injured: Report

A 2-year-old fell from a third floor balcony in Aspen Hill and was flown to an area hospital, rescue officials say.

A toddler is in critical condition after falling Tuesday afternoon from a third-floor balcony in Aspen Hill, authorities said.

The 2-year-old fell from a structure in the 3300 block of Hewitt Avenue near Georgia Avenue, according to Pete Piringer, spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services. He estimated the child fell 40 feet.

The child was flown by helicopter to an area hospital. The youngster’s were described as life-threatening.
