Victim Identified in Fatal Clarksburg Accident
Montgomery County Police say they are still trying to determine why a car hit a woman walking across Frederick Road.

Montgomery County Police have released the name of a woman killed when she was hit be a car Thursday night while walking across a street.

The victim Betty Lou Vest, 67, of the 22700 block Frederick Road in Clarksburg. Fire/Rescue personnel took Vest to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.
The prelimary investigation reveals that a 2002 Volkswagen Golf TDI was traveling northbound on Frederick Road. At the same time, Vest was crossing the street, although there was no marked crosswalk in the area.

For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle struck Vest. The striking vehicle remained at the scene.
The driver has been identified as Carl Martin of Ruby Drive in Boyds.
