BREAKING: Public schools in Montgomery County will operate on a modified schedule on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Public schools in Montgomery County will open late on Tuesday, Jan. 30, according to school officials. Montgomery County Public Schools announced a two-hour delay Tuesday morning.
While schools will open late for students, school offices will open on time, according to the announcement from Montgomery County Public Schools. Day care programs in school buildings may continue as scheduled.
For students taking the bus, officials say bus service will be provided on a two-hour-delayed schedule.

Morning prekindergarten, morning half-day Head Start, other morning half-day programs and field trips are canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 30, according to Montgomery County Public Schools. Other activities and programs that begin at 10:30 a.m. or earlier are also canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 30.
Montgomery County Public Schools will reevaluate its weather decision by 7 a.m. to determine if a closure is necessary.

Transportation officials advise drivers to allow themselves extra time on the morning commute as snow falls throughout the region. There is potential for slippery spots on area roads, and motorists should reduce their speeds.
Accumulations between a coating and a half-inch of snow are expected between 3 and 7 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
