Westside At Shady Grove Tops 100 Occupied Residences

A new Starbucks serves residents and Red Line commuters in Rockville.

ROCKVILLE, MD - From Westside At Shady Grove Metro: This month’s opening of Rockville’s newest Starbucks marks a succession of events at Westside at Shady Grove Metro where more than 100 residences are now occupied.

In June, EYA, the developer of the transit-oriented community at Metro’s Red Line terminus, opened The Daley, a mixed-use building with luxury apartments and ground floor retail co-developed with Bozutto.

More than third of the 333 rental units are already leased and the new Starbucks is serving both neighborhood residents and metro riders.

Located in The Daley at the corner of Crabbs Branch Way and Gramercy Boulevard, Westside Starbucks’ weekday hours are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. The store opens on Saturdays at 5:30 a.m. and Sundays at 6 a.m. The Shady Grove Metro Station is a five-minute walk from Starbucks.

Westside Beer & Wine and additional retail stores and restaurants in The Daley are expected to open in early 2018.

“When fully leased, Westside will have more than 40,000 square feet of retail with an attractive mix of neighborhood convenience businesses and a nice selection of restaurants,” said McLean Quinn, EYA Vice President of Land Acquisition. “Our initial focus is on smaller retail stores and restaurants for the ground floor of The Daley, but we’re also speaking to several grocers and pharmacies who are interested in the community.”

Townhome sales in the neighborhood continue to be steady with 75 sold including 20 residences in the last two quarters, according to Quinn.

In spring, EYA introduced the Fitzgerald and Gershwin, two new townhome floor plans that offer three bedrooms on one level, a two-garage and an optional rooftop terrace. Starting in the mid $500,000s, they are ideal for Montgomery County families seeking a new starter home in a walkable community adjacent to the Metro.

Among the townhomes is a new neighborhood park with dog run and tot play area. An outdoor pool, clubhouse and community gardens are included in future amenities coming to the community.

EYA plans to build more than 325 additional townhomes over the next five to seven years.

In addition to Metro service, Westside offers onsite Captial Bikeshare and Zipcar stations as well as easy access to roads and highways including Frederick Road (MD Rt. 355), I-270, I-370 and the Intercounty Connector.
