What's Open and Closed in Rockville for New Year's 2016?

ROCKVILLE, MD — Rockville City Hall and all city facilities will be closed Friday, Jan. 1, in observance of New Year’s Day. Many facilities and programs will operate on a limited schedule on Thursday, Dec. 31.

Recycling and refuse will not be affected by the holidays. City facilities will operate on the following schedule:

• City Hall and all city facilities will be closed Friday, Jan. 1 (New Year’s Day).

Croydon Creek Nature Center will be open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31.The F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre box office will be open only from 2-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29, and Wednesday, Dec. 30. The box office will resume regular hours on Tuesday, Jan. 5. Tickets are always available at www.rockvillemd.gov/theatre.Lincoln Park, Thomas Farm and Twinbrook community centers will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, and Saturday, Jan. 2.The Rockville Senior Center, including the fitness room, will close at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31.The Rockville Swim and Fitness Center will be open from 6 a.m.-4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31. Montgomery County Holiday Closings

Many government offices in Montgomery County will be closed, or have limited services, for New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, says Montgomery Community Media:

• County Offices – closed.
• Libraries – closed January 1, 2.
• County Liquor stores – closed Dec. 31 at 7 p.m.; closed Jan. 1.
• Recreation – all facilities are closed Jan. 1; senior centers, community and neighborhood recreations centers are closed through Friday, Jan. 1; aquatics to close at 3 p.m. Dec. 31. Contact aquatics facility directly for modified holiday schedules.
• Montgomery Parks – for holiday operating schedule on Parks’ facilities, including Brookside Gardens, ice rinks, tennis centers, trains and carousels, visitwww.MontgomeryParks.org.
• Ride On – Sunday schedule on December 25 and January 1; limited weekday service until 10 p.m. on December 24.
• Metrobus – Sunday schedule.
• Metrorail – Sunday schedule.
• TRiPS Commuter Stores (Silver Spring and Friendship Heights) — closed.
• Refuse/recycling pickup – no collection; collection for Friday provided one day later for remainder of week (last collection day is Saturday).
• Transfer Station – closed on Jan. 1; Transfer’s Station’s public drop-off area will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31.
• Parking at public garages, lots, curbside meters – free.
• Montgomery County Public Schools Administrative Offices – closed Jan. 1.
• State offices and courts – closed.
